Position: 231587 Associate Diabetes Nurse Specialist (Band 6 or Band 5 Development)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join our small, dynamic and progressive team. Do you already have experience in this area of practice or are you ready to embrace a new challenge?

The successful candidate will ultimately work autonomously with high levels of skill and expertise required.

Responsibilities will include;

  • Providing a specialist nurse led inpatient service within DGRI
  • Independently managing the Diabetes Centre Helpline (a patient centred service which manages a wide variety of calls ranging from specialist, often emergency, advice to people with diabetes, to supporting colleagues in their management of primary care and outpatients)
  • Independently running specialist nurse led clinics
  • Working with members of the wider multidisciplinary team to prioritise patient safety, service efficacy and an holistic approach to managing people with type 1 diabetes, pregnant women with diabetes and individuals with type 2 diabetes who require additional specialist advice beyond that available in general practice.

This post will commence at Band 5 progressing to Band 6 only after successful completion and sign off of core specialist competencies. Full induction and training will be given to support this with progression to Band 6 expected after 3-6 months.
