Overview
This is a Band 8a Clinical/Counselling/Forensic Psychologist role within the Community Learning Disabilities Team, Learning Disabilities Division. 1.0 WTE. We are looking for creative, innovative and enthusiastic psychologists to deliver clinical services, including assessments and therapy for individuals, groups and families, and consultation to professionals. We aim to reduce inpatient admission and trauma while improving quality of life and emphasising relationships with significant others.

You will join an established group of psychologists and assistants/trainees. You will work with a broad range of models as needed, including behavioural (PBS), CBT (adapted), systemic, narrative, ACT, CAT, attachment, CFT and EMDR. The role offers opportunities for Learning Beyond Registration training, involvement in family therapy/staff consultation, and links with local and national LD services. You will work with a trauma-informed, compassionate, formulation-based approach within the MDT, and contribute to rolling group interventions (e.g., Emotion Regulation and Tree of Life).
You may support clients with complex physical health conditions to improve quality of life and reduce health inequalities. There are research opportunities and potential for supervising doctoral research and quality improvement projects. The service supports clinical leadership development and involvement in clinical projects and pathway development. There are opportunities for service user involvement via the Service User Group and links to postgraduate training pathways (DClinPsy, MSCi, etc.).

Essential:
- Qualifications:
Doctoral level in clinical psychology; HCPC registered. - Experience:
Experience of specialist psychological assessments and treatment; experience with a wide variety of client groups. - Skills/Knowledge:
Skills in complex psychological assessments; good communication and consultation skills. - Personal Qualities:
Self-motivated; positive, energetic, enthusiastic; ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and good time management. - Other job requirements:
Ability to teach/train others; ability to work within a multicultural framework; travel independently; ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance.
