Job Summary: We are seeking to recruit an Education Wellbeing Practitioner to join the Tower Hamlets Education Wellbeing Service (THEWS). THEWS is a Mental Health Support Team (MHST) established following the government Green Paper:
Transforming Children & Young People's Mental Health Provision. The service has undergone recent expansion. For further information about our service please see our website:
- Delivering evidence-based interventions for children and young people (CYP) with mild-to-moderate mental health problems.
- Supporting the senior mental health lead in each education setting to introduce, develop and deliver the whole school/college approach.
- Giving timely advice to school and college staff, and liaising with external specialist services, to help CYP to get the right support and stay in education.
THEWS is part of the Tower Hamlets Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) based in Whitechapel, East London.
Responsibilities:
The post-holder will deliver and assess outcome focused, evidence-based interventions to children and young people with mild-to-moderate mental health problems, and their families, parents, and carers. They will support the senior mental health lead to introduce or develop their whole school/college approach. They will also liaise with supervisors to agree appropriate signposting and referrals for children and young people.
In line with Trust policy, the service has adopted a hybrid clinical working model of direct face to face and remote working as appropriate.
The service embraces continual improvement and well-being of the staff and has a high degree of enthusiasm for quality improvement and working together with partner agencies to provide the highest quality service to the population we serve.

Person Specification Education, Qualification, and Training (Essential)- Recognised EMHP or CWP qualification
- Registration (or applied for) with BABCP and/or BPS
- Experience of working with schools
- Experience of delivering evidence-based approaches for mild to moderate mental health problems in children and young people
- Experience of routine outcome monitoring and feedback
- Experience working as part of an MHST
- Experience of service development
- Experience of working with CYP with neurodevelopmental conditions
- Experience of delivering group work
- Experience of delivering teaching/training
- Knowledge of current guidelines and recent developments in evidence-based assessments and interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems
- Knowledge of legislation and implications for clinical practice in relation to children, young people and their families
- Knowledge, understanding and experience with diverse racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds and families with a high level of deprivation
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues both within and outside of the team
- Ability to engage and maintain collaborative relationships with CYP and families
- Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure
- Awareness of limits of competence and ability to use supervision
- Knowledge of current guidelines in terms of the implementation of the whole-school approach in education
- Ability to travel within the Borough of Tower Hamlets according to school allocation and need
