General PurposeAs a WIC Site Supervisor, you will lead a dynamic team dedicated to supporting the health and well‑being of women, infants, and children. In this key leadership role, you will oversee the daily operations of one of our WIC program sites, ensuring efficient service delivery, regulatory compliance, and a welcoming, client‑centered environment. You’ll play a vital part in fostering teamwork, mentoring staff, and optimizing clinic workflows to enhance participant experience and program impact.
In addition to site supervision, you will serve as the WIC department’s Nutrition Coordinator, contributing to the planning and implementation of local agency initiatives that promote nutrition education and breastfeeding support. This dual role offers the opportunity to shape both site‑level operations and agency‑wide nutrition strategies, making a meaningful difference in the lives of the families we serve.
Remote Work: This position allows for 2 remote days per week after the training period is complete.
Description of Duties- Supervise daily operations of the assigned WIC site.
- Ensure quality nutrition services are provided to all WIC participants.
- Oversee food and formula prescriptions and coordinate with medical providers.
- Participate in the development and implementation of the Local Agency Management Evaluation (ME).
- Ensure the efficient flow of the assessment and education process.
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of operations (patient, financial, and employee-related).
- Be familiar with and adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
- Attend and participate in required department, staff, and agency meetings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the WIC Program Director.
- Provide the roles and responsibilities of a QN as outlined by WIC Program standards in providing services to participants.
- Lead development and implementation of the agency’s Nutrition and Breastfeeding Promotion and Support Plan.
- Develop and oversee high‑risk care plans and track participant progress.
- Coordinate nutrition services with community organizations and medical providers.
- Participate in quality assurance (QA) processes and staff competency in various nutrition related areas (i.e., anthropometry, hematology, nutrition education, etc.).
- Act as a mentor and provide technical guidance to staff delivering nutrition services.
- Provide leadership in planning, conducting and evaluating participant‑centered nutrition education.
- Provide nutrition in‑service training to local agency staff who provide nutrition services to participants.
- Conduct chart reviews and in‑service nutrition training.
- Stay current with nutrition research and share relevant updates with staff.
- Participate in local and state work groups to improve nutrition and program services.
- Provide technical assistance and consultation to local agency staff and other health professionals in nutrition service areas.
- Stay current with up‑to‑date nutrition information and share with LA staff by attending professional conferences, meetings, seminars, training, and WIC Association functions.
- Adhere to the roles and responsibilities outlined in WIC documentation (Nutrition Coordinator guidance).
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Nutritional Sciences, Community Nutrition, Clinical Dietetics, Foods and Nutrition, or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university, or one recognized by the New York State Education Department.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) credential, or eligibility for registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Completion of an accredited dietetic internship program is required.
