Surgical Authorization Specialist- Remote

• Monitor authorizations for upcoming surgical cases, ensuring timely and accurate approvals
• Verify patient demographic information and insurance eligibility, coordinating benefits as needed
• Complete surgical cost analysis forms for collection prior to services
• Document authorizations and progress in the patient’s chart, entering information within case management systems
• Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and co-workers, establishing strong working relationships

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the healthcare field, particularly in referrals/authorizations, front office, or charge posting
• Excellent organizational skills and strong customer service orientation
• Strong background in computers and data entry
• Working knowledge of eligibility, verification of benefits, and prior authorizations from various payers
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of health records and meet HIPAA guidelines

• Previous experience in surgical authorizations or similar healthcare roles
• Familiarity with case management systems and medical billing processes
• Strong communication skills with the ability to train and educate staff on new processes
• Experience in handling complaints and improving workflow processes
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards
