Job summary

This is a e Nephrology post for 7 programmed activities a week at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust (NWAFT). The role involves delivering modern responsive nephrology services across the Peterborough and Huntingdon area.

Responsibilities
  • 7 day a week inpatient dialysis at Peterborough City Hospital (PCH) ward A8
  • AKI and general nephrology service at Hinchingbrooke Hospital (HH)
  • Home-based renal replacement therapy and patient education
  • Provision of renal outpatient clinics at PCH, Stamford Hospital, HH and Johnson Community Hospital
  • Lead the development of and provide inpatient AKI services at PCH and HH
  • Supervise and train junior medical staff, including doctors and nurses
  • Participation in the Renal on-call rota (1:6)
  • Commit to medical audit, continuing professional development (CPD) and annual revalidation

Person specification – Essential qualifications
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • Specialist Register for Nephrology (or eligibility for entry within 6 months)
  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to UK CCT in Nephrology and Medicine
  • Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of nephrology problems
  • Independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
  • Procedural ability – kidney biopsy, insertion of non‑cuffed dialysis lines
Person specification – Desirable qualifications
  • Postgraduate thesis (MD or PhD)
  • Specialist Register for General Internal Medicine
  • Insertion of PD catheters
  • Insertion of cuffed dialysis lines
  • Special interest in haemodialysis, vascular access, home dialysis, AKI
