What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
  • Perform concurrent analytical reviews of clinical and coding data to improve physician documentation
  • Conduct initial and follow-up reviews of patient records to assign accurate diagnoses and procedures
  • Query physicians for additional documentation regarding unclear or conflicting health records
  • Educate healthcare providers on the importance of accurate and complete documentation
  • Collaborate with coding professionals to resolve discrepancies and ensure DRG accuracy
What is Required (Qualifications):
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Clinical Documentation Specialist
  • Additional 2 years of experience in an acute care setting or relevant experience
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, PA, NP, or medical school, or Associate's degree with CCDS certification
  • Certification as a Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) from ACDIS
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools, especially Excel
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Prior experience reviewing patient safety indicators (PSI) or specialized mortality reviews
  • Strong understanding of clinical documentation improvement practices
  • Experience in educating healthcare teams on documentation standards
  • Ability to conduct independent research on clinical topics and coding guidelines
