Sentara is hiring a Medication History Technician for our Inpatient team at Martha Jefferson Hospital

Location: Charlottesville, VA

Status: Full Time (40 Hours/wk)

Shift: Days/Evening (11 hour shifts / 7 Days in 2 week period)

Hours: 9am-8pm
* Every Other Weekend & Holiday Rotation

• Hours may vary outside of listed hours to meet Pharmacy staffing needs

The Pharmacy Tech II
- Clinical performs the technician responsibilities of clinical pharmacy care delivery under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.

• Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area
• Demonstrates the ability to work independently defined areas of pharmacy practice competently
• Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced clinical job positions
• Participates in the training of new employees
• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
• Participates in clinical initiatives to continuously improve patient care
• Training in an advanced Clinical Pharmacy Technician job function
• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned
• A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Certification/Licensure

• Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
• CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Required)

Experience

• 2 Years of Pharmacy Experience (Required)
• Medication History Experience (Preferred)
