**** As a Travel Surgical Technologist with AHN, you will play a crucial role across Allegheny Health Network's 9 hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers, supporting surgical teams wherever staffing needs are greatest. This dynamic position involves flexible 6-week rotations, with schedules that may include either, 5-8 hour shifts, 4-10 hour shifts or 3-12 hour shifts, including potential off-shifts, holidays, weekends, and nights.

**** GENERAL OVERVIEW:
** This job performs direct and indirect technical tasks for patients before, during, and after surgical interventions.  This position plays a vital role in the surgical team, performing a wide range of technical tasks with proficiency and accuracy. This role requires a strong understanding of surgical procedures, aseptic techniques, and patient care protocols.

* ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

*** This role will support OR specialties and will require to be available for on call coverage.
* Assists in setting up the surgical operating suite with appropriate instruments and supplies.
* Utilizes proper aseptic techniques and practices standard precautions. Follows policy for medication and specimen handling.
* Assists with preparing, positioning and draping patients and participates in the surgical pause to assure correct patient and surgical site.
* Understands, anticipates and adapts to surgeon preference and patient care variables, and contributes to updating surgeon preference materials.
* Performs sponge, needle, and instrument count.
* Cares for and utilizes resources to promote cost effective and efficient environment for patients.
* Performs other duties as assigned or required.

* QUALIFICATIONS:

** Minimum* 3 years of surgical technologist experience
* Diploma or certificate from a college or accredited technical school.
* Surgical Technologist (ST) hired after 12/29/2020 require one of the following:  +
** Education and Certification:
** Accredited Surgical Technologist program completion and nationally recognized certification (CST, TS-C) within 6 months of hire. Military programs accepted.  +
** Pre-existing Employment:
** Employment as a surgical technologist by this facility before 12/29/2020, or at another facility within the two years prior to 12/29/2020.
* CPR – American Heart Association
* Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
* Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
* Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
** Preferred
* ** 1 year of travel experience
* 5 years of surgical technologist experience
