- Pay range: $18.65 - $19.90/hr based on experience
- Onsite role at Ardent - UT Health Tyler, Tyler, TX
- Assign accurate MRNs, complete medical necessity or compliance checks, provide patient instructions, collect insurance information, receive and process physician orders using an overlay tool, and deliver excellent customer service measured by Press Ganey.
- Operate the telephone switchboard, relay incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls as applicable.
- Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to correct accounts, including those for other employees, departments, and facilities.
- Develop training materials and programs for new hires and provide continuing education to associates across the revenue cycle.
- Create and manage staff schedules within the patient access department.
- Provide on‑call responsibilities, including after‑hours support and guidance, and cover unscheduled staffing needs.
- Collect point‑of‑service payments in emergency, outpatient, and inpatient settings, including past‑due balances and payment plan options.
- Conduct audits of accounts, ensure all forms are completed accurately and timely, provide statistical data to leadership, and meet point‑of‑service goals.
- Explain general consent for treatment forms to patients/guarantors/legal guardians, obtain signatures, and distribute patient education documents.
- Review eligibility responses in the insurance verification system, select appropriate insurance codes, enter benefit data, and support POS and billing processes.
- Screen medical necessity using ABN software, inform Medicare patients of possible non‑payment, and distribute ABN and other required forms.
- Perform other job‑related duties as directed by a supervisor.
- 1 to 3 years of related experience.
- Associate degree or equivalent experience.
- Understanding of the revenue cycle, including admission, billing, payments, and denials.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the patient insurance process for authorizations and benefits verification.
- Knowledge of health insurance requirements, medical terminology, and CPT or procedure codes.
