Sentara Ambulatory Surgery Belle Harbour is hiring a Certified Surgical Assistant I in Suffolk, Virginia. This is a full‑time position with a sign‑on bonus up to $7,500 for new graduates or $15,000 for those with at least one year of experience.
Responsibilities- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
- Assist the surgeon with tasks such as selecting equipment, setting up tables, positioning equipment, providing retraction for visualization of the surgical site, cauterization of bleeding vessels, suturing and closure of incision, instillation of medications, application of surgical dressings, splints, and casts.
- Perform pre‑operative and post‑operative duties to better facilitate proper patient care.
- Use effective interdisciplinary communication to facilitate optimal patient outcomes.
- Trade School Graduate CAAHEP – Surgical Assistant required.
- Licensed Surgical Assistant – Virginia required.
- Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) (National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants or National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association required.
- 1 year of operating room experience preferred.
- Demonstrated in‑depth clinical and technical skills in surgical fields.
- Participation in departmental improvement efforts preferred.
- Effective interdisciplinary communication required.
