Pod Captain
Sunrise, FL - USA
Position RequirementsUnder the direct supervision of the Manager of RCM, the Pod Captain is responsible for revenue cycle duties including but not limited to:
- Processing patient insurance information through the patient intake process ensuring the timely and accurate submission of insurance claims and collecting payment on outstanding patient balances.
- Acting as a first point of contact and assisting Representatives with difficult accounts and workload, including directly working on accounts.
- Ensuring RCM Representatives perform appropriate claim processing and/or follow up, including research, resulting in timely claim processing.
- Reviewing and auditing Representatives' productivity and quality of work, and identifying areas of additional training in collaboration with the RCM Education department.
- Ensuring employees in the department work on assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Collaborating and managing third‑party vendors as an extension of the Revenue Cycle Management team.
- Meeting or exceeding required departmental productivity standards consistently.
- Performing quarterly audits of Representatives' work and providing audit reviews.
- Providing input into the annual review of Representatives.
- Identifying trends and working with the Manager of RCM to implement solutions to prevent denials and minimize avoidable adjustments.
- Maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of payer guidelines and reimbursement policies.
- Escalating issues to the RCM Manager as needed.
- Working closely with the Manager of RCM daily to ensure smooth operation within the department, and providing backup support during the Manager’s absence.
- Supporting and contributing to process improvement initiatives as a SME.
- Assisting with training all new hire Representatives once the employee has started working accounts and continually providing training to the representatives in collaboration with the RCM Education department.
- Reviewing and approving timecards, overtime requests, and scheduling for Representatives.
- Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college preferred, or equivalent combination of education & experience.
- Basic Microsoft Office experience.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and written.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers and vendors.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
