Doors of Hope Inc is certified by the District of Columbia Department of Behavioral Health (DC DBH) as a Core Service Agency (CSA) to provide outpatient Mental Health Rehabilitation Services (MHRS) for Children, Youth and Families. We serve children and youth between the ages of 5 to 18 years while providing support to families who struggle with mental illness and substance use conditions.
Doors of Hope Inc provides community-based psychiatric services, psychotherapy, and community support services. Services are provided virtually – in the office, home, school, and community.
Doors of Hope Inc has immediate openings for Child & Family Therapist. Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, the Child and Family Therapist is responsible for providing social emotional/mental health services for children and youth between the ages of 5 to 18. The therapist will work with a multidisciplinary, culturally oriented clinical team and collaborate with families, schools, and community stakeholders to deliver evidence‑based practices.
Responsibilities- Provide Psychotherapy/Counseling to assigned caseload of clients aged 5–18 years and/or their families.
- Collaborate with client’s family, school, and community stakeholders as needed.
- Maintain client records per program confidentiality guidelines and fidelity.
- Monitor and track caseload requirements.
- Provide referrals to external/internal support.
- Observe behavior and intervene appropriately in situations posing a threat to children/youth.
- Work independently and participate effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
- Exercise professional independent judgment in planning own work, formulating recommendations, and making decisions.
- Participate in staff consultation, development, and training opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in social work, marriage & family therapy, counseling, psychology, or a related field.
- Must be licensed in Washington, D.C. (Psychologist, LICSW, LPC, LGSW, LCPC, PhD).
- Experience in Evidence‑Based Practices.
- Must adhere to Clinical Documentation Requirements.
- Must be eligible to bill insurance for therapy provided.
- Minimum two years of experience providing therapeutic interventions to children and youth ages 5 to 18.
- In‑depth knowledge and experience working in child/youth mental health.
- Excellent communication, organization, and computer skills.
- Certified in evidence‑based practices or willing to be trained.
