Within our Retail locations, our Pharmacy Technicians (Technicians) play a critical role in supporting pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise. You will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately while providing caring service that exceeds patient expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, creating heartfelt moments while serving patients at pick‑up, drive‑thru, and over the phone; provide immunizations and services; and resolve patient concerns.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, and inventories.
- Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, seek feedback, and expand clinical/technical knowledge.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntary travel to stores.
- Comply with federal, state, local laws, regulations, ethical principles, CVS policies, controlled substance dispensing, recordkeeping, and privacy protection.
- Optionally deliver additional patient health care services such as immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and off‑site clinic staffing where allowed.
- Obtain Technician Immunizer status by completing required licensure and training.
- Educate patients about vaccines and refer to Pharmacist‑on‑duty for questions.
- Monitor and respond to adverse reactions; report events per public health requirements.
- Collect, review, and document patient information; track vaccine supplies.
- Comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements (age, education, licensure).
- Meet age and educational minimums as dictated by state board (minimum 16 years, high‑school diploma or equivalent).
- State‑level licensure and national certification vary by state.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
- Attention & Focus: concentrate on tasks, quickly pivot between tasks, confirm prescription information.
- Customer service & Team orientation: friendly help, recognize and respond to patient reactions.
- Communication
Skills:
verbal and written communication; active listening. - Mathematical Reasoning: solve numeric problems related to dispensing.
- Problem Resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose best actions.
- Physical Demands: mobility, lifting up to 20 lbs, repetitive finger use, visual acuity, etc.
- Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
- 1–3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to work at home store and across market locations to meet business needs.
