340 dba as Community Pharmacy is looking for an efficient, flexible, and highly motivated Pharmacist to join our team in a hybrid community pharmacist full‑time exempt role.
The Hybrid Pharmacist is responsible for both onsite pharmacy duties and remote pharmacy responsibilities, with a balance determined by operational needs. Remote work focuses on verifying data entry and conducting drug utilization reviews (DUR) to ensure safe and effective medication use. Onsite work involves traditional community pharmacy operations, including dispensing, patient counseling, and compliance with pharmacy laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Remote Responsibilities
- Data Entry Verification:
Review and verify prescription data entered by pharmacy technicians for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulations. - Drug Utilization Review (DUR):
Conduct DURs to assess medication appropriateness, identify interactions, contraindications, and ensure safety. - Consultation and Recommendations:
Provide remote consultation to pharmacy staff and healthcare providers regarding drug therapy management and suggest therapeutic alternatives. - Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Monitor adherence to internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements while verifying data and conducting DUR. - Onsite Responsibilities
- Dispensing Medications:
Accurately and efficiently dispense prescriptions, ensuring correct dosage, instructions, and labeling. - Patient Counseling:
Provide professional counseling on medication use, side effects, interactions, and administration. - Prescription Review:
Review prescriptions for accuracy and appropriateness, working with the healthcare team to resolve discrepancies. - Pharmacy Operations:
Assist with day‑to‑day operations, including inventory management, medication storage, and maintaining a clean, organized environment. - Collaboration:
Work with the onsite team, including technicians and other healthcare providers, to ensure efficient operations and optimal patient care. - Staff Training and Development (Hybrid Role)
- Train and mentor pharmacy staff on best practices, new technologies, and regulatory changes.
- Continuous improvement:
Enhance workflow efficiency and patient care standards, both onsite and remote. - Scheduling:
The balance between remote and onsite work may vary based on operational requirements. - Regulatory Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal pharmacy laws and regulations, both onsite and remotely.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including DURs, medication dispensing, and patient interactions.
- Collaboration with Healthcare Providers
- Communicate with physicians, nurses, and other professionals to ensure patients receive appropriate medication and care.
- Address clinical concerns raised by healthcare providers regarding medication therapy management.
- Registered Pharmacist or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm
D) degree from an accredited pharmacy school. - Active pharmacy license in Iowa in good standing.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in community pharmacy or similar setting.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and medication therapy management.
- Experience with drug utilization review (DUR) processes.
- Proficiency in pharmacy management software and other relevant tools.
- Ability to work independently and remotely while ensuring team collaboration and communication.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high‑quality patient care.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with patients, staff, and providers.

Work Schedule:
The position will split between onsite community pharmacy duties and remote work for data entry verification and DUR; the ratio varies based on operational needs. - Onsite Work:
Requires presence at the pharmacy location, engaging in patient interactions, dispensing, and other pharmacy tasks. - Remote Work:
Requires access to necessary systems and software to perform data verification, DUR, and other responsibilities from a home office, maintaining a HIPAA‑compliant environment at all times.
- Deliver high‑quality, accurate data verification and DUR services during remote shifts.
- Maintain excellent customer service and professionalism while onsite, providing medication counseling and dispensing duties.
- Adhere to all relevant pharmacy laws, policies, and safety protocols both onsite and remotely.
- Maintain flexibility in scheduling and role responsibilities as needed to support the pharmacy team and patient care.
