ADOS Autism Assessor for Children and Young People – Exeter / South West England
Join Paloma Health as an ADOS Autism Assessor for Children and Young People based in our Exeter clinic. The role is full‑time (or part‑time / self‑employed) and involves in‑person child observations, multidisciplinary assessment and contribution to a gold‑standard pathway.
Location & Time CommitmentIn‑person based at our Exeter, Devon clinic. Full‑time preferred; part‑time (minimum 3 days per week) or self‑employed (minimum 3 days per week) also available.
Responsibilities- Conduct high‑quality child observations as part of an autism assessment.
- Act in accordance with our Safeguarding Policy, including risk assessment where necessary.
- Keep up to date with mandatory training and professional qualification requirements, including CPD.
- Deliver in‑person child observations, participate in peer MDT diagnostic decision‑making and support senior clinical MDT as required.
- Professional registration with HCPC, NMC, or Social Work England.
- Position titles typically include Psychologist (clinical, counselling, educational), Occupational Therapist, Speech & Language Therapist, Nurse (mental health/learning disability), or Social Worker.
- Completion of a recognised ADOS‑2 course (required for HCPC, NMC and Social Work England applicants; clinical psychologists considered without ADOS‑2).
- At least 1 year of experience delivering children’s observations within an autism assessment process (ages 2‑4 or 5‑18).
- Good time‑management skills and case‑load management.
- Enhanced DBS check with barred list (if working with children).
- Experience in conducting risk assessments within an autism assessment service.
- Evidence of safeguarding training (Level 3 and above).
- Competitive salary: £74,000‑80,000 (allied professionals), £80,000‑85,000 (practitioner psychologists), competitive for GMC‑registered clinicians.
