$23.85 - $35.78 hourly. Placement depends on experience and internal equity. Labor union positions are guided by collective bargaining.

The Coding Analyst Associate reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
This role is 100% remote and serves as the coding and reimbursement expert in ICD‑10‑CM diagnosis coding with expertise in HCPC Level I and II procedural codes. The analyst also resolves NCD/LCD claim edits.
Responsibilities- Utilize technical coding expertise to assign appropriate ICD‑10‑CM and CPT‑4 codes to outpatient visit types.
- Review medical records thoroughly, using all available documentation to code appropriate diagnoses and procedures.
- Collaborate with Orders Management Unit (OMU) and other coding divisions for NCD/LCD edit resolution.
- Interpret health record documentation using knowledge of anatomy, physiology, clinical disease processes, pharmacology, and medical terminology to report appropriate diagnoses and/or procedures.
- Follow ICD‑10‑CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, Coding Clinic, Coding Clinic for HCPCs, CPT Assistant, and interpret coding conventions to select appropriate diagnoses and procedures with a minimum of 95% accuracy.
- Resolve NCD/LCD or other outpatient edit claim failures as assigned.
- Meet established minimum coding productivity and quality standards for each outpatient encounter type.
- Review and analyze dashboards to derive conclusions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC or COC credential.
- AHIMA or AAPC membership.
- Associate’s degree in a related field.
- One year of outpatient coding experience in a healthcare setting.
