ABA Billing Specialist (REMOTE) – Texas Only (Central Reach Experience)

Little Spurs Autism Centers is seeking an experienced ABA biller to join our dynamic team. Under general direction, the billing specialist will exercise independent judgment while adhering to established policies, procedures, regulations, and best practices.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of billing and coding experience in ABA therapy specialty.
  • In‑depth knowledge of medical billing; pediatric billing experience is a plus.
  • Experience with robust practice management/EMR systems, preferably Central Reach and Waystar.

Required Skills & Abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of coding, billing, and related processes.
  • Understanding of local payers, billing, and claims resolution processes.
  • Knowledge of physician practice technology for claim transmission and collection.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail‑oriented and able to work independently with accuracy.

  • Remote work environment proficiency.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Bilingual a plus.
  • Passion for Revenue Cycle and positive mindset.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Support billing, accounts receivable, and related functions.
  • Manage charge capture, coding, billing, and billing edits.
  • Coordinate with providers and Regional Medical Directors to improve templates and automated charging processes.
  • Analyze billing trends, charges, coding, and collections; implement appropriate actions.
  • Review and submit claims to insurers; follow up on any issues.
  • Ensure correct coding and compliance with guidelines.
  • Maintain systems, policies & procedures to ensure payer compliance.
  • Monitor reimbursements and stay up‑to‑date with federal, state, and company policies.
  • Communicate expectations to employees and hold self accountable.
  • Assist with staff communication, goal setting, and standards.
  • Handle work allocation, problem resolution, and month‑end reports.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Day‑to‑Day Activities
  • Perform billing/payment posting functions as assigned.
  • Follow up on unpaid or improperly paid claims.
  • Review and monitor select AR accounts.
  • Conduct collection efforts, including follow‑up online, by phone, and in writing.
  • Apply protocols in company EMR for invoice status.
  • Build claims using medical terminology, ICD/CPT codes; correct denials promptly.
  • Submit claims electronically and by paper.
  • Assist with telephone inquiries and billing questions promptly.
  • Generate and review patient statements; send collection correspondence per protocol.
