Opportunity Summary
We are seeking remote 1099, Independent Contract Therapists to join our growing network supporting veterans, military members, and their dependents. In this role, the therapist will provide a full range of psychological services, including psychological assessment, diagnostics, and evidence-based treatment services.
Responsibilities- Provides individual and group interventions to support patients coping with health psychology presentations related to mental health diagnoses (e.g., sleep, pain, adherence to medical regimen, adjustment to illness), psychosocial stressors, grief, or phase of life difficulties (e.g., discrimination, stress management, coping with loss, transition to civilian life), and mild‑moderate severe mental health presentations.
- Provides cognitive screening to address specific functional and/or cognitive ability questions.
- Provides immediate access to clinical assessment and appropriate collaborative care and treatment for those experiencing mental health symptoms or behavioral health issues.
- Makes independent psychosocial assessments to determine psychosocial functioning and needs of patients and their families.
- Possesses a working knowledge and experience in the use of medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities, treatment procedures, common medications and their effects/side effects, and medical terminology.
- Follows suicide prevention guidelines and risk assessment documentation and training requirements.
- Completes thorough psychosocial assessments and includes pertinent information in all required areas of functioning to determine appropriate diagnoses and treatment conclusions.
- Provides DSM‑5 diagnosis to determine psychosocial functioning and needs of patients and/or their families.
- Provides emergency/crisis interventions to stabilize the patient, engaging in rapid assessments and developing crisis management plans.
- Provides psychotherapy as individual, group, and/or family interventions when clinically indicated or appropriate.
- Maintains knowledge of Veteran’s benefits, community resources, and processes for making appropriate referrals to community and other governmental programs or agencies.
- Provides case management services throughout the continuum of care.
- Adheres to client regulations regarding documentation and completion of encounters.
- Licensure:
Must be licensed to practice independently in any state;
Psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Mental Health Clinician (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). - Psychologist:
Must have Psy Pact in addition to state license. - Education:
Depending on license type, must have either a master’s degree in social work, counseling, or related field from an accredited program or a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program. - Experience:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience practicing therapy independently. - Preferred:
Experience providing therapy to veterans and military members. - Experience providing consultation about mental health diagnosis and treatment plans to professionals from various disciplines, especially concerning psychiatrically and medically complex patients.
- Knowledge of DSM‑5 clinical presentations and brief, evidence‑based psychological interventions for mild, moderate, and severe presentations.
- General knowledge regarding mental health assessment and treatment.
- Knowledge of Substance Use Disorders, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, and Serious Mental Illness (SMI), and skill in treating patients within Veterans’ Hospital PTSD and MHC settings, including comorbidities.
- Assessment and intervention skills, with some specialized experience in evidence‑based treatment.
- Ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of thorough risk assessment and mental health crisis procedures, and skill in leading interdisciplinary treatment teams during crises.
- Experience in one or more Electronic Health Records.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
