ResponsibilitiesAssess patients and safely perform routine radiographic procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols.
Act as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.
Verify physician orders and procedures to assure accuracy.
Utilize radiology information systems to facilitate care.
Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
Independently operate imaging equipment to complete procedures according to protocol (may include placement of nasogastric tubes, IVs, urinary catheters, and administration of contrast).
Review patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality.
Complete timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and address issues as needed.
Assist in departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.).
Adapt interactions for diverse patient populations with respect for privacy and clear communication.
Perform other related duties as required.
Education —
Required:
Completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program
Work Experience — Preferred:
Radiologic technology experience
Certifications —
Required:
Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or ARRT registry eligible with registration within 90 days of employment and temporary state license required. Current unrestricted license in the state of practice. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
(KSAs)
Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval.
Effective verbal and written communication; ability to present information clearly and professionally.
Proficiency with Windows-style applications and role-specific software.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Heavy work, lifting and moving objects; ability to work a flexible schedule (including 24/7, weekends, holidays, on call) and travel between facilities. Must be able to stoop, bend, reach and grasp; sit and stand for prolonged periods. Work involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and potentially infectious materials. May involve exposure to hazardous medications or waste in a healthcare environment.
