Job Summary

The University of Texas at Dallas has an excellent job opportunity for individuals looking to join our team on a Temporary basis working as MRI Technologist at the Sammons Brain Health Imaging Center ter for Brain Health at The University of Texas at Dallas is a nonprofit research institute dedicated to advancing the science of brain health. This position independently performs prescribed magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures and protocols requiring specialized knowledge and skills in support of the provision of research services to a specific population.

Minimum Education and Experience

High school graduate or equivalent.

Preferred

Education and Experience
  • Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology and 1-2 years of experience in modality
  • CPR certified
  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) ARRT (MR) and or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT)
  • Knowledge of Siemens software platform

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepares facilities in accordance with procedural requirements; calibrates equipment, and prepares imaging related materials, as required; cleans and disinfects equipment in accordance with sterile procedures and standards.
  • Screen participants & research personnel for MRI appropriateness and review any contraindications for exams including implants, metallic devices, or other foreign objects, which would prohibit or modify the MRI exam.
  • Prepares participants for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures as appropriate to requirements; explains procedures to participants and positions them as appropriate to prescribed procedure; assists participants at the end of procedure.
  • Independently executes prescribed MRI protocol; determines appropriate calibrations and/or techniques, arranges immobilization and/or support devices.
  • Discusses incidental findings with the lead MRI technologist or physicist as applicable.
  • If modification of a MRI protocol is necessary consult with researchers to determine appropriate sequences, parameters, etc.
  • Performs general office duties such as assisting in the delivery of MRI data to servers, or investigators, recording of scan times for billing purposes, typing forms
Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Various activities include sitting, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, reaching, involves extensive desk/computer work on a daily basis, requires manual dexterity for operation of keyboard. Vision abilities include close and distance vision and ability to adjust focus, able to hear and communicate effectively in person and over the phone, may be required to lift item.

Additional Information

This position is Non Benefits Eligible and will work at the Center for Brain Health located in Dallas up to 19 hours per week. A remote work schedule is not available for this position.
