Democracy Defense Manager (DDM) Job Description

Who We Are: All Voting is Local (All Voting) launched in 2018 with a vision to build a democracy that works for us all. We fight to dismantle barriers to the ballot well before the next election, so that every voter can cast a ballot that counts. For more information about All Voting, please visit (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..

All Voting is Local Action (AVL Action) is a 501(c)(4) organization that advocates for policies and legislation that expand voter access for all voters and prevent partisan interference in our elections.

About the Role: Reporting to the Nevada State Director, All Voting is seeking a Nevada Democracy Defense Manager (DDM) to join its team for a term-limited role lasting through December 23, 2026. The Nevada DDM will work with All Voting Nevada staff, national staff, and relevant coalition partners to establish and coordinate a strategic hub to ensure coordinated preparation for and response to the unique and critical threats to election administration, to vote counting and certification that a major election crisis could pose.

We like to think of a DDM as a “coalition concierge” on behalf of All Voting: the DDM will be responsible for organizing in-state groups and leaders around how election decisions (from legislation to policy) could pave the way for an acute election crisis in 2026. This position will involve work for both All Voting and AVL Action.

What You Will Do:

  • Support a coalition dedicated to preventing election sabotage and represent All Voting in state and national pro-democracy coalitions:
    • Strategic planning and alignment on behalf of the coalition and its working groups, and coordinate on the preparation and execution of strategy;
    • Manage relationships horizontally across the coalition;
    • Connect national, state, and local experts, resources, and capacity;
    • Undertake scenario planning/tabletop exercises to prepare for critical election emergencies that could significantly delay or disrupt voting, vote counting, or the certification of the election;
    • Program and project management:
      Own timelines, build trackers & templates, resource libraries, etc.;
      Create resources for the coalition;
      Facilitate, own agenda-creation, and frame out next steps for 20+ meetings monthly;
      Spearhead and organize approximately 2-3 convenings per year: venue, catering, agenda-setting, materials-purchasing, etc.
  • Create, build, develop, and maintain relationships with state-, county-, and municipality-level elected officials, election officials, and partners to grow the coalition:
    • Serve as point of contact if electeds have questions about election-related items (e.g., voting processes);
    • Hold relationship between electeds and points of contact at other partner orgs;
    • AVL Action may, if applicable, register you as a lobbyist in Nevada;
    • Lobbying for AVL Action; public-facing testimony for state, county, and municipal hearings & meetings.
  • Communicate with external entities:
    • Provide press support as needed to the Nevada State Director
  • Identify, monitor, and share information concerning likely threats that could lead to democratic backsliding, such as delayed election results, chaotic vote counting, partisan takeover of election administration, political violence, etc.:
    • Monitor local-, state- and national-level legislation, county board activity;
    • Monitor activity of extremist groups;
    • Legal monitoring of election cases.
  • Collaborate with the Nevada team to support the Nevada campaign plan.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring:
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in organizing, campaigns, voting rights, or civil rights coalition work.
  • Strong project management experience.
  • Ability to convene multiple partners with competing priorities around a shared mission or goal, while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Thinks creatively and finds solutions.
  • A self-starter and team player who thrives in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
  • Excellent…
