Organizational SettingThe FAO Representation in Libya is responsible for the development, promotion, supervision, and implementation of programs and strategies jointly prepared with the Government in the areas of food, agriculture, and rural development. It also maintains strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including government institutions and financial and technical partners.
Reporting LinesThe project coordinator will work under the direct supervision of the FAO Representative in Libya. The position will contribute to supporting the overall project portfolio in Libya; and cross-cutting efforts to strengthen national capacities in climate change adaptation and mitigation, support institutional coordination, and advance climate-resilient development planning in line with national and international frameworks.
Technical FocusThe mission aims to providing technical and operational support for agriculture, food security and climate change related projects in Libya. The role involves close collaboration with government partners and other stakeholders to implement, monitor, and report on development projects, while insuring FAO positioning in the country and beyond.
Tasks and responsibilities• Coordinate the implementation of all project activities, developing action plans and reporting progress to project manager and FAO.
• Ensure that the project produces the results specified in the Project Document, to the required standard of quality, and within the specified constraints of time and cost.
• Coordinate and solicitate the participation of all concerned parties, contributors, beneficiaries as well as all other relevant stakeholders to the project implementation activities.
• Prepare regular planning and progress reports, identifying bottlenecks and suggesting corrective measures when necessary. S/He is responsible for ensuring that the project is executed in accordance with the Project Document and the FAO guidelines for nationally executed project.
• Contribute to and/or prepare and submit to the relevant parties the projects’ Work Plans (as well as all other progress reports required by the other relevant FAO, donor as well as beneficiaries).
• Review consultants’ reports, including their content and format, based on the Terms of Reference and specifications, prior to submission for potential approval by the LTOs.
• Organize and facilitate training workshops and consultation meetings with all partners.
• Prepare knowledge management materials and support communication activities.
• Maintain good working relationships with governments, donors, beneficiaries, and all other stakeholders.
• Carry out any other related tasks that may be assigned.
