Ontario One Call is seeking candidates for the open role of Vice President, Legislative and Regulatory Affairs.
$215,000 - $230,000
Position Overview
Ontario One Call’s Vice President, Legislative and Regulatory Affairs (VP) leads its legislative affairs and compliance functions. This executive role is responsible for shaping and executing the organization’s regulatory strategy, overseeing member compliance with legislated obligations, and fostering strong relationships with government bodies, industry stakeholders, and regulatory agencies. The VP plays a pivotal role in advancing public safety and damage prevention initiatives across Ontario’s underground infrastructure landscape.
This position is located at the Guelph office located at 104 Cooper Drive, Guelph. Ontario One Call has a hybrid work model with staff dividing their workweek between in-office and at-home work per company policy.
Key Responsibilities
Legislative & Regulatory Strategy
Lead the development and implementation of Ontario One Call’s legislative and regulatory engagement strategy.
Monitor and analyze legislative developments and regulatory changes impacting the organization and its members.
Advise executive leadership on emerging regulatory risks and opportunities.
Regulatory Oversight & Member Compliance
Oversee Ontario One Call’s Compliance department responsible for monitoring and enforcing member adherence to legislated requirements under the Ontario Underground Infrastructure Notification System Act.
Ensure fair and transparent compliance processes, including investigations, enforcement actions, and reporting.
Develop and maintain internal frameworks to support regulatory oversight and member accountability.
Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain effective relationships with government officials, regulatory agencies, industry partners, and public stakeholders.
Represent Ontario One Call in consultations, hearings, and public forums related to regulatory and legislative matters.
Policy Development & Advocacy
Lead the creation of policy proposals and position papers to influence legislative and regulatory outcomes.
Collaborate with internal teams to align operational practices with regulatory expectations.
Digital Mapping
Develop and support the implementation of a province-wide digital mapping solution designed to improve public and infrastructure safety while supporting the Ontario build agenda through increased efficiency and cost reductions.
Champion digital mapping initiatives that ensure the accurate identification and protection of underground assets, supporting safer excavation practices.
Foster innovation and system-wide improvements in infrastructure planning, enhancing public and worker safety while maximizing economic and operational benefits.
Provide strategic leadership to cross-functional teams involved in compliance, legal, and public affairs.
Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
