About the CEO Commission for Disability Employment
The CEO Commission for Disability Employment is a national organization advancing disability employment through policy, practice, and culture. As a 501(c)(6) organization, the Commission brings together employers, disabled entrepreneurs, and advocacy partners to influence policies and practices that improve employment outcomes for people with disabilities and help our corporate partners build meaningful disability practices and cultures.
Position Summary
The Policy Manager will lead and manage the CEO Commission’s public policy and government affairs efforts, serving as a key driver of the organization’s advocacy strategy. This role is responsible for maintaining our policy principles while advancing policy priorities, strengthening relationships with policymakers and stakeholders, and positioning the Commission as a trusted voice on disability employment policy from an employer and employee perspective.
The Policy Manager will work closely with the Executive Director, partners, and external stakeholders to execute a proactive and strategic policy agenda that supports inclusive employment practices nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
Policy Strategy & Advocacy
- Lead the development and execution of the Commission’s annual policy agenda.
- Monitor federal and state legislation, regulations, and policy trends impacting disability employment.
- Draft policy briefs, position statements, comments, and testimony.
- Coordinate advocacy initiatives, including Hill Days, briefings, and coalition activities.
Government & Stakeholder Relations
- Build and maintain relationships with Congressional offices, federal agencies (e.g., DOL, EEOC, OPM), and policy coalitions.
- Represent the Commission in meetings, public forums, and policy convenings.
- Serve as a liaison between policymakers and Commission partners.
Research & Analysis
- Analyze policy proposals and employment data to inform organizational positions.
- Produce regular policy updates, summaries, and reports for members and Board leadership.
- Support development of thought leadership related to disability employment policy.
Member & Partner Engagement
- Engage corporate, entrepreneur, service, and advocacy partners in policy discussions and advocacy opportunities.
- Translate complex policy issues into clear guidance and action items for members.
- Collaborate internally to align policy efforts with communications and programming.
- Lead and convene our Policy Committee and Policy Steering Committee
Communications & Visibility
- Contribute to policy-related content for newsletters, website, and social media.
- Support media engagement and external messaging on policy issues, as appropriate.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, law, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in public policy, government affairs, advocacy, or related work.
- Strong understanding of federal legislative and regulatory processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Located in or near the Washington D.C. area and have strong knowledge of navigating the Capitol
Preferred:
- Experience with disability employment, workforce policy, labor policy, or civil rights issues.
- Experience working with employer-led organizations, associations, or coalitions.
- Existing relationships with policymakers or federal agencies.
- Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $70,000 to $90,000 (commensurate with experience)
