JOB SUMMARY:

The Arizona Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Retirement Specialist Supervisor. The Retired Members Retirement Specialist Supervisor, under the direction of the Retired Members Manager, is responsible for the timely coordination, assignment and verification of all health insurance premiums, insurance subsidy, and retirement benefits as it relates to pension payroll. In addition, this position is responsible for the verification and processing of all cancer claims as it relates to the Cancer Insurance Plan that is administered by the System.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

The Retirement Specialist Supervisor is responsible to:

  • Review, assign and approve all new retirement applications to include normal, disability, surviving spouse, guardian/child, DROP, Reverse DROP, lump sum death benefits and deferred annuity for CORP and PSPRS retirement plans.
  • Analyze and reconcile all application discrepancies to include benefit calculations.
  • Review and coordinate CORP and PSPRS disability applications with legal counsel for statutory compliance.
  • Verify and determine continuing child eligibility benefits.
  • Review, assign and approve all monthly payroll adjustments to include recalculations, complex split benefits with ex-spouses, IRS levy orders, child support orders, medical and dental changes and benefit increases.
  • Investigate and reconcile balancing discrepancies for pension payroll.
  • Manage and assign all retirement and insurance workload to Retired Member Specialists.
  • Review and approve all completed retirement and insurance work for accuracy and payment per the monthly payroll schedule.
  • Train staff on retirement and insurance processes and procedures.
  • Relate statute and program changes to Retired Members Specialists.
