Position Type: Permanent, Full-time

Hours of Work: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday; various shifts depending on operational needs

Salary: $2,192.42 - $2,614.01 bi-weekly as per the Bylaw Enforcement Officer Classification within the C.U.P.E Collective Agreement.

Job Profile
  • Research, Investigate and inspect Short Term Rental premises which may require licensing to ensure compliance under the Community Safety Business Licensing By-law, Neighborhood Livability By-law, and Vacant Building By-law.
  • Research, Investigate and inspect Converted Residential Dwellings premises which may require licensing to ensure compliance under the Community Safety Business Licensing By-law, Neighborhood Livability By-law, and Vacant Building By-law.
  • Research, investigate premises to ensure compliance under the Neighborhood Livability By-law, and Vacant Building By-law.
  • Investigate complaints regarding premises where an alleged business is operating and may require a license through the Community Safety Business Licensing By-law.
  • Issue notices of violation where appropriate and required.
Education and Qualifications
  • Grade 12 and completion of a post‑secondary certificate in a by‑law enforcement related program along with a minimum of two years’ related experience; or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience in a justice related field, conflict resolution, customer service or related discipline.
  • Ability to acquire working knowledge of the Amanda data system within 3 months.
  • Demonstrated ability to objectively conduct effective investigations, collect usable evidence, take statements from citizens for use in court and make meaningful observations and present findings.
