The Opportunity
* Create and maintain a system of internal controls to safeguard enterprise assets.
* Assure that all accounting is done in accordance with GAAP, including evaluation of stipend and patient accounts receivable, evaluation of payroll and other liabilities, and maintenance of ownership equity.
* Oversee the daily operation and function of AP and AR team.
* Generate GAAP basis entity financial statements and departmental and site-related income statements and balance sheets.
* Convert GAAP basis medical group income statement and balance sheets to cash basis for cash basis income distributions and for tax return preparation.
* Present financial information to CFO and Finance leaders.
* Annually determine both the cash basis and accrual basis net income of the Medical Groups to facilitate the calculation of the profit distribution percents and provide information to allocate all the profits to the individual partners.
* Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors.
* Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
* Assist the Controller on reviewing all corporate and partnership tax returns prepared by our tax advisor.
* Review and understand all state and local tax.
* Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
* Assist the Controller with the recommendation on insurance strategy at least annually related to Cyber, Workers Compensation, General Liability, Malpractice, and EPL.
* Evaluate potential liabilities and assure proper reserves are reported on financial statements.
* Mentor, guide, and develop staff to achieve their career aspirations.
* Evaluate staff's performance and develops career tracks.
Required Experience and Competencies
* 15 years of leading Financial Accounting teams required.
* Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Economics, or related area required.
* CPA or CMA required.
* Two (2) years of healthcare experience required.
* Completing cash and accrual basis financial statements for Partnerships preferred.
* Solid understanding of US tax code preferred.
* Big 4 or mid-level accounting experience preferred.
* Master's in Business Administration (M.B.A.) preferred.
* Knowledge of US GAAP.
* Knowledge of US tax code related to partnership and corporate tax.
* Knowledge of US auditing standards.
* Knowledge of the Vituity policies and procedures and regulatory requirements relating to general compensation.
* Knowledge of the concepts, standards, and methods for auditing compliance.
* Ability to express ideas and convey information effectively in verbal and written communications.
* Ability to keep abreast of new/current laws, regulations and common/emerging practices.
* Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations to varying groups and sizes.
* Ability to maintain flexibility, cooperation, and participate in cross-organizational performance improvement activities.
* Ability to use office equipment and automated systems/applications/software at an acceptable level of proficiency.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by the duties of the position.
* Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
* Ability to evaluate and convey information in legible reports to Finance and Executive groups.
* Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations and/or statues.
* Intermediate to advanced MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills.
* Strong consultation skills and the ability to seek out information and provide quality advice.
