Job Summary:Under the general supervision of the Department of Anesthesiology Finance Associate Director, the Accountant I will undertake general accounting duties in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and procedures. This includes preparing financial reports, assisting with budgeting, and ensuring the accurate recording and reporting of the business unit's financial transactions. Partial remote work available after a training period has been completed.
- This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
- Candidates who demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities will be given first consideration:
- Working knowledge of UW Workday
- UW Purchasing and other UW Financial Systems
- Knowledge of UW Health Oracle and financial systems
- Experience with purchasing, records management, financial reporting and financial policies
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepares and analyzes financial data, reports and records, identifies discrepancies, investigates, recommends, and implements basic solutions as needed.
- Assists in preparing budgets and financial projections.
- Assists with accounting and reviewing reconciliations, journal entries, schedules, and reports.
- Prepares and/or approves financial transactions and payments.
- Organizes, prepares, and updates basic financial statements, monthly and year-end journal entries, accounts, ledgers, and reports for various financial needs within an automated financial system to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions.
- Answers questions and provides accounting related information to internal and external stakeholders according to established policies and procedures.

The starting salary for the position is $60,000 annually; but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:- Experience with Microsoft suite
- 2 Years of professional finance experience, highly preferred
- UW background, highly preferred
- UW Health background, highly preferred
