Job Description
The Manager, Accounts Payable is responsible for all aspects of the accounts payable function for Tricon’s Toronto Corporate head office and Canadian multifamily development and rental operations.The individual will work together with another manager to oversee a team comprising of an accounts payable supervisor and accounts payable specialists.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the Accounts Payable team, including managing and reviewing workflows, invoice and payment processing, vendor management and handling internal and external requests and inquiries.
- Provide timely feedback and ongoing coaching to AP specialists.
- Ensure up-to-date policies and procedures documentation is established and maintained.
- Initiate, lead and manage process improvements to enhance productivity and efficiencies, including recommending changes to internal controls.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Company policies, as well as the impact of prompt approvals, while educating cross-functional stakeholders.
- Manage month-end AP close processes, including the review of account analyses, reconciliations and monthly accruals.
- Oversee the re-charge of reimbursable expenses to internal and external customers.
- Oversee the monthly employee credit card and expense reporting cycle.
- Conduct research on more difficult or complex inquiries.
- Ensure process and procedures follow company policies, acceptable accounting practices, and applicable regulations.
- Work with the Finance and Accounting teams to ensure accurate cost recording and to ensure sufficient funding is in place for upcoming payments.
- Work with the wider corporate and Canadian multi-family rental accounting teams to assist with audit, period end close and financial reporting.
- Analyze data and provide information to management to enhance insight on financial performance as it relates to purchases and payables.
- Coordinate with IT team to resolve technical and system-related issues as they occur.
- Problem solve and resolve issues/concerns as they arise on a proactive basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proficient knowledge of Excel.
- AP experience for multi-entity and multi-currency organization required.
- Experience with online banking and wire payments required.
- Experience with Yardi would be an asset.
- Time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated and demonstrates excellent work ethic and a willingness to learn.
Minimum Requirements:
- 5+ years of full cycle high-volume AP experience, with 2+ years of supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of account payable concepts and basic accounting (debit and credit, journal entries, accruals, recharges, etc.).
Work Schedule
:
This is a hybrid role, with a combination of in-office and remote work in accordance with company guidelines.

Salary Range
Placement within this compensation range will be determined by the candidate's knowledge, experience and skills.
