About the positionWe are seeking a part-time consultant experienced in International Mobility Tax to support global compensation, payroll, and mobility‑related tax compliance for ING’s Americas region. This role includes coordinating with our external global tax provider, managing payroll and compensation data, and ensuring ongoing international mobility compliance. The position also involves providing practical guidance on mobility‑related tax matters and contributing to routine planning activities as needed.
The ideal candidate requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, deep experience and knowledge of global mobility and international taxation. The estimated annual workload is approximately 400 hours, though the work pattern will vary throughout the year, with increased demand during tax season and year‑end.
The HR department is responsible for all aspects of Human Resources, including Business Partnering, Talent & Learning, Performance & Reward (including Benefits), HR Information Systems, Talent Acquisition, and Payroll. The team is a dynamic and high‑performing team that has the opportunity to interact with leadership as well as all employees throughout the employee lifecycle, from onboarding to offboarding.
Responsibilities Tax Season Coordination / Tax Equalization / Year-End Activities- Liaise with our external global tax provider during tax season as required.
- Track and report weekly tax‑season progress.
- Conduct ad‑hoc review of tax equalizations and discuss exceptions or special tax treatments with our global tax provider.
- Review and process year‑end calculation results prepared by our global tax provider.
- Discuss bonus and tax equalization issues, including hypothetical tax considerations.
- Upload U.S. compensation requests from our global tax provider (including fiscal year requests such as UK).
- Prepare or review payroll instruction throughout the year.
- Review and reconcile mid‑year, final, and year‑end compensation summaries.
- Set up annual compensation summaries and ensure accuracy.
- Review and reconcile W-2s; prepare suggested W-2C amounts.
- Calculate and review bonus worksheets and hypothetical tax rates.
- Request and review quarterly compensation data from international offices.
- Review assignment costing and deferred compensation reports.
- Manage Short‑Term Assignment (STA) setups with our global tax provider and payroll.
- Review global tax provider tax meeting notes and ensure compliance actions are tracked.
- Support notices, audits, and follow‑up research for mobility‑related tax matters.
- Review of VIP employees and terminations for compliance risks.
- Participate in tax policy reviews and suggest improvements.
- Support local payroll projects and research requests for other offices.
- Oversee deferred compensation payment processes.
- Establish and maintain electronic compliance files annually.
