Financial Analyst, Risk Manager/Analyst
Job Summary
As a team member in Finance at Nationwide, a Fortune 100 company with nearly $70 billion in annual sales, you will work with technical skills implementation, maintenance of the in‑force block of business, and collaboration with IT, actuarial and business stakeholders. The role is part of the Life In‑force Management team, focusing on reinsurance, value auditing and policy review.
Key Responsibilities- Compile, categorize and analyze data with direction and oversight.
- Assist in building testing tools and analyzing product calculations and illustrations.
- Aid in building, maintaining and running actuarial, projection and valuation models.
- Complete financial reporting and analysis with direct oversight.
- Price and implement products with input and oversight.
- Assist in valuation/reserving under multiple accounting regimes (statutory, GAAP and tax).
- Assist in analyzing reinsurance opportunities and risks for Nationwide Financial products.
- Assist in specialized data and analytics activities—data governance, strategy, modeling, manipulation, and requirements elicitation.
- Assist in analysis, validation of business processes and development of new programs or modifications of existing applications, including design, prototyping, coding, and test plans.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Excel, VBA and SQL proficiency.
- Knowledge of financial products.
- Knowledge of actuarial methodologies and calculations.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office products, including VBA within Access and Excel, and programming languages.
- Problem‑solving, learning on the fly and strong business perspective.
Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, CIS or similar quantitative background. No finance or actuarial experience required; internship, associate teaching or tutoring experience is typical.
May have passed an actuarial exam, LOMA or other industry exams.
Reporting RelationshipsReports to Financial Director, Actuarial, or other financial/actuarial manager.
Location and Remote WorkPosition primarily based in Columbus, OH, but remote applicants with critical industry skills may be considered.
CompensationInternal Compensation Grade: E3.
National salary range for Analyst, Financial – Actuarial: $62,500.00–$.
Expected starting salary range: $62,500 – $93,500.
Note:
Compensation is geographic‑specific and may be prorated for part‑time roles.
