About the department

Corporate Audit Services (CAS) is the global internal audit function of ING Group, one of the Global Systematically Important Financial Institutions with its Head Office in Amsterdam. It is a strong, united organization of talented people in which knowledge and best practices are shared around the world. CAS is highly regarded by its clients and endorsed by the Institute of Internal Auditors.

ING Americas is a business unit of the worldwide operations of ING Wholesale Bank. The unit operates in the USA and Mexico and serves corporate and institutional clients with industry lending and financial markets products. CAS Americas is responsible for the execution of all audits within the Americas region and is based out of New York, in a hybrid mode.

Audits are performed by teams of two to four auditors (including the Audit Lead in a hands‑on role). Every team member will specialize in one or more areas of expertise, including Financial Markets, Lending and Sectors or Risks and perform audits – as far as possible - in their areas of expertise. The purpose of the job is to support the CAS Americas team in providing independent assurance services designed to add value and improve ING’s operations by bringing a systematic approach to evaluate and the effectiveness of governance, control and risk management processes against regulations and ING standards and to recommend improvements.

Responsibilities
  • Understand the audit strategy memorandum, the ING Americas risk assessment, audit universe and audit plan.
  • Able to acquire a (detailed) understanding of the audit object.
  • Participate in the execution of audit assignments, focusing on the Financial Markets (trading) side of the business.
  • Assist in determining the audit objective and scope; and documents the audit work, evidence obtained and the audit conclusions in the audit file.
  • Assist in the audit close‑out meeting and prepare draft audit findings which include identified control deficiencies and recommendations.
  • Stay up to date with developments internally and externally in the fields of commercial banking and internal audit.
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Qualifications
    : a Bachelor degree with at least one certification from CIA, CPA, ACA, ACCA, FRM (or comparable) or a willingness to work for one on hiring. A Master or postgraduate degree and a GPA over 3.6 is a clear plus.
  • Experience
    : 1+ years experience is preferably obtained in auditing financial markets (strong plus), lending, risk, compliance or operations in financial institutions or in public practice accounting (Big 4 or comparable).
  • Competencies
    :
    • Strong analytical skills.
    • Professionally sceptic and curious attitude.
    • Strong communication skills (verbally and in writing).
    • Client oriented, team player and creative: strives for innovation, improvement, and efficiency, and be able to perform under pressure.
    • Candidate should have a ‘make it happen mentality’, a clear interest in the financial services industry and a willingness to continuously learn and improve.

Salary Range $72,000-$91,000
