ROLESUMMARY
The Credit Analyst role is an entry level position within the Credit Department. An Analyst has a variety of functions ranging from tasks that are clerical in nature to completing the Underwriting of new Sponsors and loans. Evaluating financial risks and ensuring adherence to sound credit and loan underwriting practices. Consistently document a package for further internal Underwriting review, including Loan Committee.
ESSENTIALDUTIES
- Assist with the Team pipeline management as needed.
- Act as team liaison to other departments with updates on assignments.
- Point person when special team projects arise.
- Work on special projects as needed, including but not limited to pulling reports, responding to audit findings, keeping SharePoint files organized, etc.
- Perform detailed credit analysis, evaluating the financial profiles of Sponsors and borrowing entities.
- May be responsible for the loan level underwriting of asset documents such as title, insurance, contracts, etc. for your own assignments as well as for Sr. Underwriters assignments.
- Consult with both internal and external sources regarding Sponsor/Borrower applications.
- Pay close attention to detail and consistency in analysis and findings presentation format.
- Recommend and implement best practices as part of Ascent
DS' dedication to creating an industry-leading customer experience. - Work efficiently under minimum supervision.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field is preferred.
- Two plus years' relevant experience in credit analysis and financial statement evaluation.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with industry-standard credit scoring models and underwriting processes.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools, including Excel or other 'spreads' formats.
- This role works on-site from Ascent's Encino office, Monday - Thursday (Fridays are work-from-home).
- Full-time, 40 hours per week; must be available for occasional overtime.
- Some nights and weekends required.
