Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Finance to lead financial operations across multiple entities, including retail locations across Canada and operations in the United States. This role will oversee financial reporting, inventory management, compliance, and team leadership, while providing strategic insights to support growth and profitability.
This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring strong financial controls, accurate reporting, and scalable processes to support a growing retail organization.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee financial operations, reporting, and compliance across multiple companies and retail locations throughout Canada.
Manage and mentor the finance team, including Bookkeepers, Accounts Payable, and Controller, and build out the team as needed.
Lead consolidated financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
Ensure accurate inventory accounting, costing, and retail performance reporting.
Monitor financial performance and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
Ensure compliance with all tax, regulatory, and statutory filing requirements in Canada.
Act as primary liaison with outsourced accounting firm(s) and auditors.
Strengthen internal controls and implement process improvements across the organization.
Qualifications
CPA designation (required)
7+ years of progressive finance experience, including leadership responsibilities
Experience managing finance teams and multi-entity structures
Experience overseeing retail financial operations and inventory management
Experience with cross-border financial operations preferred
Strong financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls experience
Experience in audit, forensic accounting, or improving compliance and profitability is considered an asset
Experience in US a bonus
What We Offer
Competitive base salary of $140,000 – $175,000 CAD
