• Underwrite FHA Streamline and VA IRRRL refinance loan files in accordance with agency and investor guidelines.
• Review credit reports, income documentation (when applicable), asset documentation, title work, and other required supporting documentation.
• Ensure compliance with FHA and VA program requirements.
• Utilize automated underwriting systems (DU/LP) and perform manual underwriting when required.
• Work closely with processors, originators, and closing teams to obtain required documentation and clear loan conditions.
• Maintain productivity, quality control, and turn-time standards established by management.
• Provide clear, concise underwriting decisions and condition lists.
• Participate in internal and external audits and respond to documentation requests as needed.
• Stay current with FHA and VA guideline updates, compliance regulations, and industry changes.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and loan origination systems (Encompass preferred).

• Minimum 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience.
• Recent experience underwriting FHA Streamline and/or VA IRRRL loans.
• Proficiency with Encompass LOS.
• Experience with automated underwriting systems (DU, LP).In-depth knowledge of FHA and VA guidelines.
• Strong decision-making skills with a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to manage a high volume of refinance files in a fast-paced environment.
• DE (Direct Endorsement) certification required for FHA underwriting.
• SAR/LAPP approval for VA loans preferred.
