Position: UK Accountant

The Company:

A Private Equity backed SME, specialising in the manufacture and distribution of technology products used by a broad array of sectors accross the globe. Their UK Head Office is based in High Wycombe with convenient links by public transport and plenty of onsite parking. They prefer to work the majority of the week in the office while supporting colleagues to work from home once per week.

The Role:

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the UK Accountant supports in the leadership and management of the finance team, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Banking, Inventory, and Payroll. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial processing, reporting, and compliance while driving process improvements and fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.

Acting as a key business partner, the UK Accountant oversee's budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management, and month-end close activities, as well as support external audits and statutory reporting.

Duties include:

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing and reporting of AP, AR, and multi-currency banking transactions.
  • Monitor and forecast cashflow, providing clear and accurate reports.
  • Own monthly journals, payroll, accruals, prepayments, and financial statements.
  • Prepare and review monthly management accounts and commentary for senior stakeholders.
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve variances promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with VAT (UK & DE), EC Sales, and Intrastat submissions liaising with external advisors to ensure compliance.
  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes for allocated departments.
  • Support external audit processes and ensure smooth month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
  • Maintain financial policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Track and report KPIs to measure performance and drive improvements.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to support business growth.

About You:

We are looking for an experienced, Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) with strong team working and communication skills. Capable of working to tight reporting dealines. Experience in mentoring colleagues would be advantageous.
