This is a task-based, junior‑level position assisting in various financial and accounting tasks, including month‑end and year‑end close activities, auditor schedules, and data cleanup. The ideal candidate will have an accounting degree and 2–3 years of experience, preferably from small to medium‑sized companies.

• Assist in month‑end and year‑end close activities, including preparing and posting journal entries for accruals, provisions, and other required tasks.
• Act as a liaison during internal and external audits, supporting audit requests and preparing accurate audit schedules.
• Complete general ledger (GL) account reconciliations in accordance with accounting policies and timelines.
• Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial reporting standards.
• Support the allocation and amortization of grants, ensuring proper tracking and accounting treatment.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional and non‑finance stakeholders to gather information, resolve discrepancies, and support accurate financial reporting.

• Month‑end and year‑end close experience, including preparing and understanding journal entries (debits/credits, impact on financial statements).
• Intermediate Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, IF functions, and SUMIFS.
• Experience with large ERP systems.
• Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Exceptional communication (spoken and written English) and interpersonal skills.

• Canadian CPA or CPA, CA strongly preferred.
• Alternatively, any of CPA, CMA, MAcc, MBA.
• French language skills.
• Experience with SAP and macros in Excel.
• Hospital or research experience.

The role is based at the Sunnybrook Bayview campus with a work week of 37.5 hours, typically from 9‑5, with some flexibility. The position involves working from home three days a week and requires business smart attire. The role is within the Research Finance team, and the contract is set to end by June 30th, with potential for extension based on performance.

Overtime is not typically required and should be discussed with the manager beforehand.

Contract position based out of Toronto, ON.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 – $40.00/hr.

Hybrid position in Toronto, ON.
