The Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the company’s financial records and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. This role owns core accounting processes including month-end close, general ledger management, reconciliations, and compliance activities.
In addition to strong accounting responsibilities, this position will also support financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting activities to help drive informed business decisions. The ideal candidate combines solid technical accounting expertise with financial acumen and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset.
This role is based out of Eden Praire, MN.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES General Accounting & Month-End Close- Lead and execute the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, reclasses, and adjustments.
- Perform and review account reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts.
- Ensure financial statements are accurate and compliant with GAAP.
- Manage fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and related reporting.
- Oversee AP and AR processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Review vendor payments, customer invoicing, and aging reports.
- Partner with internal teams to resolve billing or payment discrepancies.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Support preparation of management reporting packages and variance analysis.
- Analyze financial results, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Assist in preparing materials for senior leadership review.
- Assist with annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
- Track budget vs. actual performance and provide variance explanations.
- Support financial modeling and cost analysis initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to accounting policies and internal controls.
- Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audit requests.
- Assist with tax documentation and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and internal controls.
- Support ERP system enhancements and process automation initiatives.
- Partner with operations, HR, and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Provide clear financial insights to non-finance stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Finance considered with strong accounting coursework).
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience (corporate or public accounting preferred).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial statement preparation.
- Experience managing or heavily participating in month-end close.
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis).
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Dynamics 365, SAP, Oracle, Net Suite).
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- CPA, CMA, or progress toward certification.
- Experience in a mid-size or multi-entity environment.
- Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, or financial modeling.
- Experience with Power BI or other reporting tools.
- Strong technical accounting proficiency.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ownership mindset with strong accountability.
- Process improvement orientation.
- Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Generally, weekday business hours 8 AM – 5 PM Monday-Friday.
- Hybrid role – combination of onsite and work-from-home.
