Letter of Credit / SBLC Specialist – Trade Finance Operations

, we empower top-tier financial institutions with exceptional talent in banking and capital markets. We are currently seeking, on behalf of one of our clients, a Letter of Credit Specialist to join their Trade Finance Operations team.
The selected candidate will be responsible for managing and processing the Bank’s Letter of Credit portfolio, including the issuance, confirmation, and advising of Standby/Guarantees and Import/Export Letters of Credit. This role is crucial in maintaining the financial health and integrity of the bank.
Key ResponsibilitiesTransaction Management: Ensure that letter of credit transactions are in conformity with client instructions, UCP Publication 600/ISP
98, and the Bank’s credit/compliance procedures.Billing & Reconciliation: Manage the billing process, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, processing payments, and resolving billing inquiries.
Technical Support: Provide assistance and support to internal clients on technical aspects and practices of letters of credit.
Document Execution: Prepare and execute required letter of credit documents using TI+, Microsoft Word, or ACBS as needed.
Financial Operations: Effect timely disbursement of funds for LC drawings and ensure all items are actively traced and resolved via correspondence with global parties.
SWIFT Messaging: Ensure proper SWIFT messages are sent for all LC and billing-related transactions.
Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of experience in SBLC, Commercial Letter of Credit, and/or Guarantees in Trade Finance.
Regulations: Strong knowledge of UCP 600 / ISP 98 / URDG 758 and regulatory guidelines (sanctions, OFAC compliance, anti-boycott).
Systems: Proficiency in SWIFT
.Work Authorization: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application.
Knowledge of Syndications loans and/or Syndicated LCs.
Experience with
TI+ (Trade Innovations) or ACBS systems.CDCS Certification
.
Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Self-starter with strong time management skills and accountability.
Fluency in English (oral and written) is required. French language skills are considered an asset.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (40-hour work week).
Calendar: This position follows the USA Holiday Calendar
.Work from Home: Available on a voluntary basis for up to 2 days per week after a 3-month integration period (subject to manager's discretion).
Relocation: A relocation package may be available for eligible candidates.
Experience:
3+ years in SBLC, Commercial Letters of Credit, or Guarantees. Regulatory:
Mastery of UCP 600, ISP 98, and URDG 758. Compliance:
Strong knowledge of OFAC, sanctions, and anti-boycott guidelines. Technical:
Proficiency in SWIFT.
Languages:
Fluency in English (mandatory);
French is a plus. Eligibility:
Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
