Position: Mortgage Loan Processor and Closer - Spanish/English Bilingual Preferred (Hybrid/Remote)

Please note this is a hybrid/remote position (in the office 1-2 days/week) at our Northshore office (2077 Town Center Blvd Knoxville, TN 37922).

Role

The Mortgage Loan Processor and Closer plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless and compliant progression of mortgage loans from application to closing. This position demands a highly skilled and detail‑oriented professional who can confidently manage complex files, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and uphold regulatory standards, adhere to company policies, as well as all local, state and federal regulations and guidelines.

The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of mortgage processing and closing procedures, excels in a fast‑paced environment, and is committed to delivering an exceptional member experience through accuracy, efficiency, and proactive communication.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Processes and prepares loan applications for underwriting by reviewing and verifying all required loan documents are complete and accurate. Verifies borrower(s) information and compliance with underwriting guidelines. Identifies and resolves any discrepancies and/or missing items before submission to underwriting.
  • Completes order‑outs and reviews external services such as appraisal, title, flood, employment verification, etc., to ensure the information provided on the loan application is accurate. Responsible for verifying that each loan file is processed in a compliant manner.
  • Communicates with loan officers, underwriters, title companies, and borrowers to facilitate smooth processing and closing.
  • Serves as the final checkpoint for mortgage loans by completing final verifications and clearing closing conditions. Inputs key information to prepare closing paperwork and verifies the accuracy of closing packages. Coordinates closings with various title agencies, mortgage loan originators, and members to ensure a smooth and timely closing process.
  • Confirms accuracy of fees, loan terms, and borrower information.
  • Act as the central point of contact to ensure everyone is aligned on timelines and requirements.
  • Tracks loan statuses from application through closing. Prioritizes workload to meet closing deadlines and maintain high member and partner satisfaction. Consistently reviews pipeline to ensure loan notes, statuses, and dates are accurate.
  • Proactively identifies, communicates, and resolves loan file issues early in the process to prevent delays, while effectively managing pipeline volume to consistently meet or exceed turn‑time expectations and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Acts as liaison with all interested parties to ensure the successful outcome of the loan application process.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and investor guidelines (e.g., TRID, RESPA, HMDA).
  • Maintains current knowledge of guidelines, policies, and regulations.
  • Monitors deadlines for disclosure and closing timelines to avoid violations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience

Three or more years of mortgage processing and mortgage closing experience required.

Education

A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Finance is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Bilingual Preferred

Must be able to read, write, and speak additional Spanish language fluently, and translate for members as needed.
