We are seeking qualified Project Controls Analysts to join our highly performing project management team at United Utility. The successful candidate will work with the project management team to provide cost controls, data capture and analytics, along with process improvement and tools development services for assigned projects. The Project Controls Analyst will work collaboratively with the PMO, Finance, Accounting, Construction, and other supporting organizations, ensuring frequent interaction and coordination across various departments and personnel.
The candidate must have the ability to commute to one of our offices located in Hartford, CT on an as‑needed basis.
- Work with the Project Managers to perform cost and schedule analysis, develop/maintain Risk Registers, develop monthly reports and PowerPoint slides for Executive report outs.
- Think creatively and support the PM in successful planning and execution, with a utility construction and project controls/management background.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to develop Units, T&M, and Earned Value Management cost tracking tools per project for forecasting and reporting.
- Monitor costs and man‑hours on a weekly basis, ensuring that actuals are within budget and charged to the correct job number and cost codes.
- Identify potential risks and opportunities as part of recurring forecast analysis and communicate them to stakeholders.
- Perform analytical review and arithmetic checks of cost reporting documentation.
- Prepare accurate and complete variance analysis and reporting.
- Support Project Managers in the preparation, submission, and tracking of change orders.
- Support process improvement initiatives to make effective changes around financial systems, project financial control, reporting, and financial dashboarding.
- Work with Project team and finance to drive monthly close.
- Ensure cost, revenue accruals, and revenue adjustments are prepared and processed in a timely manner, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Support Internal Project Status Review presentations for management.
- Prepare other cost performance reports as needed or requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science in Project Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, Engineering or related field preferred. Bachelor’s degree equivalent with practical experience and knowledge of relevant technical systems will also be considered.
- 5‑10 years of experience.
- Project cost controls experience is required.
- Project cost controls experience in the electric utility sector preferred.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency with Smartsheet is desirable but not required.
- Efficient at data collection and analysis using various enterprise systems.
- Motivated, detail‑oriented individual who proactively pursues and investigates underlying details of reported information to construct a comprehensive understanding of project‑related risks and issues.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to diagnose and solve problems within limited time frames.
- Highly capable of working constructively and maintaining good relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Must be willing to travel up to 25%.
