Overview
The International Arctic Research Center (IARC) is recruiting for a Procurement Specialist. Come be part of a brilliant business team supporting arctic researchers and help meet IARC's mission!
This position requires proficiency in procurement business processes and the aptitude for meeting compliance measures, both institutionally and with federal and state grants. Must possess good analytical/problem solving skills and oral/written communication skills (spelling, grammar, composition), and have the ability to work independently and productively as a congenial team member. Must have knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP). Experience and/or knowledge of University policy, University procedures and accounting regulations, and restricted funds (grants) is preferable.
The Procurement Specialist oversees the daily requests for purchasing of goods and services, placing orders, and maintains oversight of the purchasing details, to include the use of appropriate payment methods, institutional credit card management (Pro Cards), tracking of subawards and invoices applied, and reviewing transactions for proper coding for financial reporting purposes.

QualificationsPreferred knowledge, skills or abilities for this position:
BA or BS in accounting preferred or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Preferred Training-Banner Finance, Grant, Proposal, HR, Student, Purchasing, Travel & Pro Card;
Vista Plus; QMENU; QADHOC;
Toad, and working knowledge in preparation of financial reporting, projections and analysis; working knowledge of University policy and accounting regulations, and restricted fund cost accounting standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree in applied Accounting or related field relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is acceptable and a minimum of 3-years of professional fiscal experience and/or documented procurement experience, proficiently performing progressive technical financial and/or purchasing duties and general office duties. Technical duties must cover multiple areas within the functions of A/R, A/P, and reconciliations, auditing, and fiscal tracking.

This position is located on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus in Fairbanks, and is an in-office position, some flexible work arrangements may be considered upon request and approval. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage.
New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.
