Overview
As Finance Director, you will play a critical role in supporting the company’s growth ambitions. Reporting to the International Finance Director, you will be responsible for shaping the overall financial direction of the business, ensuring strong financial processes and controls, and scaling financial operations in line with rapid growth. Working very closely with senior operational leaders and country or business-unit managers, you will have a tangible impact on the business, helping to inform strategic decisions and shape Sporty’s future success.
As a results-driven finance leader with a passion for operational finance, you will bring a forward-thinking mindset, stay ahead of industry trends, and help build a competitive advantage through intelligent finance and operational excellence.
- Own the end-to-end finance function for your remit, including building, developing, and scaling a high-performing finance team.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve financial processes, systems, and internal controls to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Act as a strategic partner to operational leaders, embedding finance into day-to-day decision-making and long-term planning.
- Manage relationships with banking partners and other financial service providers, expanding access to services as required.
- Leverage technology and external service providers to modernise the finance function and improve ways of working.
- Lead the financial aspects of business expansion into new markets, products, verticals, and potential acquisitions.
- Produce accurate, business-owned budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial models, including P&L and cash flow projections.
- Analyse financial and operational performance, identify trends, and provide clear insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Review operating costs and structures to identify opportunities for efficiency, optimisation, and sustainable growth.
- Ensure full compliance with audit, legal, tax, regulatory, and statutory requirements in complex and highly regulated environments.
- Deliver timely, relevant, and decision-focused financial reporting on both a periodic and ad-hoc basis.
- Fully qualified accountant with 10+ years of experience, including exposure to highly regulated or high-compliance industries such as Gambling, Fintech, or similar sectors.
- Strong experience in scaling finance functions within fast-growing, entrepreneurial, or international businesses.
- Fluent in English (written and verbal).
- A self-starter who operates with urgency, makes sound decisions quickly, and takes ownership.
- Hands-on, “startup mindset” — comfortable building from scratch and getting into the details when required.
- Thrives in fast-paced, high-performance environments with evolving priorities.
- Prefers a flat organisational structure and enjoys collaborating across functions and with stakeholders at all levels.
