Overview

LATAM Transactional Lawyer
Macquarie Group

We are seeking an experienced transactional attorney to join our Commodities and Global Markets team, focusing on lending deals across the Latin America (LATAM) region. If you have a strong background in cross-border lending transactions, a deep understanding of LATAM markets, and experience advising financial institutions, borrowers, and sponsors on complex financing matters, this is the ideal role for you.

At Macquarie, our advantage is bringing together diverse people and empowering them to shape all kinds of possibilities. We are a global financial services group operating in 31 markets with 56 years of unbroken profitability. You’ll be part of a friendly and supportive team where everyone – no matter what role – contributes ideas and drives outcomes.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will work as an adviser to a dynamic and growing business, counseling them on strategic initiatives in addition to providing transaction‑level support. You will structure transactions and lead and manage the documentation and negotiation of lending transactions, including syndicated loans, bilateral loans, acquisition finance, and project finance deals within the LATAM region.

You will draft, review, and negotiate loan agreements, security documents, intercreditor agreements, and related transactional documents and advise the business on legal and regulatory issues impacting lending transactions in LATAM jurisdictions. Additionally, you will support capital markets transactions, including debt issuances and structured finance deals as needed, and stay up to date with developments in LATAM banking, finance, and capital markets regulations, providing training and updates to internal teams and clients.

Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree
  • 4+ years of experience with capital markets transactions in the LATAM region
  • Deep understanding of banking and finance laws and regulations in key LATAM markets (e.g., Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Argentina)
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, collaborative, and multicultural environment
  • Excellent communication and client‑facing skills
  • Fluency in English and Spanish;
    Portuguese is a plus.
Salary and Compensation

Salary range: $250,000 - $375,000/Year. Actual base salary may vary based on relevant experience, time in role, peer and market data, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. You may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award.

Benefits
  • 1 wellbeing leave day per year and a minimum of 25 days of annual leave
  • 20 weeks’ paid parental leave for primary caregivers along with 12 days of paid transition leave upon return to work and 6 weeks’ paid leave for secondary caregivers
  • 2 days of paid volunteer leave and donation matching
  • Medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision insurance; health savings account and dependent day care savings account; life insurance, disability, and other insurance plans; 401(k) and short/long term disability
  • Employee Assistance Program with robust behavioural health network including counselling and coaching services
  • Access to a wide range of learning and development opportunities, including reimbursement for professional membership or subscription
  • Recognition and service awards
  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements, dependent on role
  • Reimbursement for work from home equipment
