Altus Group is currently looking for a Real Estate Valuation Consultant to join our New York office in the Advisory, Altus Analytics division. In this role, you will manage the daily workflow through interaction with clients, subordinates and supervisors, including the quarterly valuation process of institutional real estate funds and the appraisal management process for real estate investment vehicles.
Job Summary
As a Real Estate Valuation Consultant, you will be responsible for overseeing valuation engagements, coordinating with clients and team members, and ensuring high-quality deliverables in a timely and compliant manner.
Key Responsibilities- Requires advanced working knowledge of complex Excel tasks (e.g., VBA, data simulation, analytics, macros, Power Query, Pivot Tables, Power Pivot, dynamic named ranges).
- Improve client deliverables through data visualization, presenting quantitative data in formats such as tables, charts, graphs, diagrams, plots, geospatial maps, figures, and correlation matrices, sometimes in dashboards.
- Interpret client requests and communicate/delegate tasks to the team.
- Manage projects/engagements to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Review work by junior staff, coach and mentor them, and ensure accuracy before client or third-party delivery.
- Review third-party appraisal reports within the valuation management process and address concerns with clients or appraisers.
- Review appraisal reports for USPAP and state regulatory compliance.
- Manage client communications throughout the engagement; create or review portfolio metric presentations.
- Develop relationships with equivalent-level individuals in client firms.
- Deliver high-quality service and technical excellence.
- A university or college degree from an accredited university in Finance, Statistics, Data/Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.
- Strong Excel proficiency and ability to perform complex tasks; experience with VBA; knowledge of R or Python is a plus; SQL, Tableau/Power BI, Snowflake are desirable.
- Experience in Commercial Real Estate Valuation, Asset Management, Acquisitions, or Underwriting.
- Expertise in financial analysis and financial modeling for commercial property types (office, industrial, retail and/or multifamily) in ARGUS.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Strong communication and project management skills, with ability to manage deadlines and articulate at-risk tasks.
- Experience with the client deliverable lifecycle and a proven track record of managing client deliverables.
