Tax Accountant
We are seeking an interim Payroll Tax Professional with strong Workday Payroll and ADP Smart Compliance experience to support multi-state payroll tax operations, filings, and issue resolution. This is for a leading/ground breaking Artificial Intelligence research organization.
Fully Remote Opportunity
- Strong knowledge of multi-state wage and tax compliance, specifically
- Reporting wages and taxes when employees live in CA (and other states) but work onsite in another state
- Compliance around residence vs. work location – Compliance is KEY, not just where info is entered in Workday
- Ability to recalculate and report taxes and ensure compliance
- Experience with remittance processes and proper Workday configuration for tax compliance
- Experience setting up/registering with state and city agencies, including contacting jurisdictions as needed
- Reconciles assigned companies' quarter-to-date and year-to-date wages and taxes to ensure accurate tax reporting
- Accountable for detailed analysis of all payrolls or Master data-related entries that impact the accuracy of tax withholding or reporting
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely payroll tax reports to relevant authorities
- Ensure the accuracy, timeliness and completeness of all tax filings, amendments and reporting including W-2s and W-2c’s
- Stay abreast of federal, state, and local tax regulations and ensure compliance in all payroll processes
- Implement changes in tax laws and rates into payroll systems and processes
- Investigate and resolve payroll tax discrepancies or issues promptly
- Responsible for recording, monitoring, and resolving all agency tax notices and tracers with 3rd party provider and government agencies, validating of all agency responses
- 5+ years of payroll tax experience (multi-state required).
- Hands-on experience with Workday Payroll and ADP Smart Compliance, REQUIRED-
no exceptions - Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of federal/state/local tax regulations.
- CPP/FPC preferred but not required.
- Variety of workplace arrangements including hybrid, remote, onsite.
- Compensation commensurate with employee qualifications, experience, and other factors including geographic location, market, and operational factors.
- Pay Range: $75/hr-$85/hr
