** The Accountant in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and established policies and procedures. This position is responsible for ensuring the accurate recording, analysis, and reporting of financial transactions for the business unit, preparing financial reports, and assisting with budgeting and fiscal year-end activities. The Accountant works collaboratively with internal stakeholders to support sound financial operations and compliance requirements. performs general accounting duties
** Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:*
* * Assist in the preparation of budgets, financial projections, and financial analyses.
* Collaborate with campus departments and the supervisor to support operational needs, improve processes, and participate in special projects, including Workday optimization

* Hybrid work arrangements may be available. Primary work will be conducted on the UW-Milwaukee campus, with remote work requests considered after the initial training period. Details will be discussed during the interview process.
* Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business OR two (2) years of professional experience in accounting, finance, or a closely related role
* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for financial reporting and analysis
* Experience providing client-facing customer service or consultation, including explaining financial information to non-financial stakeholders
** Preferred Qualifications
*** Advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance
* Experience using an ERP system, such as People Soft or Workday Financial Management
* Experience preparing and analyzing financial records, including journal entries and reconciliations
* Experience with fiscal year-end close, financial reporting, audits, or sales tax compliance
* Experience working in a higher education or public sector environment
** Minimum Qualifications** $52,000 to $58,000 (Final salary offer will be determined based on knowledge, skills, and experience)
