We are looking for an experienced Strategic Financial Analyst, Field to join our Strategic Finance team, reporting to the Strategic Finance Leader for the Field. You will be an integral part of a small and highly-leveraged team supporting the Sales organization, including monthly and quarterly close process, sales performance analysis (including commission payout reconciliation), budgeting and forecasting, expense management and analysis, as well as special projects to help support the company’s long-term growth and strategic vision.
Additionally, you will be expected to expand beyond typical financial responsibilities and act as a strategic thought partner to the business leaders, including driving ad-hoc analysis and other project work. Expectations also include working cross-functionally and establishing/improving processes to enable Benchling’s continued growth.
- Build and maintain full year budgets and quarterly forecasts for various Field Organizations (Sales, Solution Consulting, Sales Operations & Enablement, and Customer Success)
- Deliver monthly/quarterly analyses of financial results including BvA variances to plan, ensuring key issues, risks and business drivers are understood and proactively highlighted
- Support commissions calculations and reporting, analytics and support annual comp plan design
- Support the company-wide annual and long-range planning processes
- Partner with Accounting on monthly close activities such as vendor trend reviews, closed-won opportunities, collections, and commissions payments
- Develop and continually improve sales and customer metrics (revenue, ARR, ASP, seat penetration, quota attainment etc.)
- Partner with business leaders to drive strategic initiatives influencing business decisions and by providing proactive recommendations, backed by strong business and financial analysis
- Drive ad-hoc projects and analysis to support Benchling’s long-term growth
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or equivalent area.
- 2-5+ years experience in FP&A/Strategic Finance at a High Growth Startup or Public Company (Enterprise Software / SaaS experience a plus)
- Strong understanding and substantial knowledge of complex financial modeling, GAAP accounting and FP&A best practices
- Strong Communication Skills - ability to think logically, rationally, and strategically in order to distill and articulate complex data to drive business decisions. Experience presenting analyses to management and ability to lead and drive initiatives
- Experience with Salesforce, Captivate
IQ, and Adaptive a plus
Flexible Hybrid Work:
We offer a flexible hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes in-office collaboration. Employees are expected to be on-site 3 days per week.
Benchling takes a market-based approach to pay. The candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, interview performance, and work location. For this role the base salary range is $119,000 - $161,000.
