About the Role

About the Role - The Finance Administrator supports the Finance team by carrying out day‑to‑day processing, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring smooth, timely financial operations. The role involves handling payment cycles, managing data entry, responding to finance queries, and contributing to reporting, reconciliations, and audit preparation. It’s well‑suited to someone organised, detail‑focused, and confident working in a busy finance environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and manage the finance team inbox, ensuring queries and requests are actioned promptly.
  • Prepare and process payment runs in line with internal controls and deadlines.
  • Produce accurate payment statements and issue them to brokers in a timely manner.
  • Manage accounts payable, including invoice processing and supplier payment scheduling.
  • Support weekly financial reporting by preparing data and updating relevant spreadsheets.
  • Ensure all financial data entry is accurate, up to date, and completed within agreed timelines.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by gathering documentation and supporting information.
  • Carry out bank detail verification checks to maintain compliance and accuracy.
  • Support account reconciliation activities and resolve discrepancies where required.
  • Respond to internal and external finance‑related enquiries professionally and promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams across the business to support operational needs.
  • Take ownership of individual tasks and contribute to team projects as required.
  • Provide general administrative support and complete ad‑hoc finance tasks when needed.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a fast‑paced finance team
  • GCSE‑level education including Maths & English
  • Experience handling finance administration tasks (AP, payment runs, statements, inbox management)
  • Experience managing spreadsheets and financial data
  • Ability to handle high volumes of transactions accurately

Desirable

  • Experience using Xero, Quick Books, SAP, or similar accounting systems
  • AAT Level 2 or 3 (or working towards)
  • Experience assisting with audits
  • Financial services or FCA‑regulated environment exposure
  • Understanding of Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable processes
